The Signature Modes

The signature modes are 5 modes, which lie below 600Hz., and are common to all violins. They are:

  • A0 – the fundamental air resonance, normally 270 .. 290 Hz
  • CBR (also called C2), normally 380 .. 420 Hz
  • B1- (also called T1), normally 430.. 480 Hz
  • A1 – Second air resonance, normally between B1- and B1+ at around 460 Hz
  • B1+ (also called C3), normally 510 .. 580 Hz
